The sun shone off of the bay stallions coat, very shiny and smooth like a stainless steel spoon. He nickered softly at the touch of Streec's hand. Steph, I'm going to need a bigger stall for this guy, I'm afraid he's outgrown it. She kissed Streec lightly, and smiled. Alright honey. She opened the stall next to Shadow's, it was alot more roomier, and was also meant for the older horses. Shadow wasn't always in the happiest mood, and so he preferred to be by himself at times, this new stall would be perfect for him. We'll get him into the new stall after the workout, Streec called to her who just happened to be moving Shadow's stuff. Alright! she called, she was on the other side of the stall row.
He took the lead chain, it easily slipped into his hands, the soft material made it easy on the hands, especially with the horses who enjoyed tugging alot.
At the sound of the girth, being pulled against him, Shadow whinnied pretty loudly. I know you don't like it very much, Streec said to him softly, as he pat the stallion. The two then went out onto the track.
Once the gate opened, the two were already off track. Shadow had already staggered at the gate, causing a late start. Streec decided to ignore it, and moved on. Moments later the two were in a gallop, Streec held onto the reins tightly, moving up slowly as the speed progressed. Lately Shadow had been bearing quite a bit lately, and today they hoped to correct that error. The hooves were hitting the ground, heavy breathing coming from the rider. Even though this was only a blow out, it had been so intense. The thoroughbred's head bobbled, he was getting slightly frustrated at the fact that Streec was still holding on the reins tightly. Keep going. He was almost breathless. Sweat poured from his face as the stress grew, he just didn't want another bounce from Shadow again. Shadow was usually a front runner, but lately he had been acting as a closer, he loved to sneak up from behind and just sprint his way through.
The horse had great difficulty coming to next furlong, and so Streec gently eased him. Shadow was almost close to retirement unfortunately, but Streec felt that he still had a few more races in him. It was a good effort. He walked the horse over back to the paddock after the stallion was untacked.
